Jointly Learned 3D Non‐Cartesian Sampling With Wave Encoding and Reconstruction for Neurovascular Phase Contrast MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 2554-2567, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop accelerated 3D phase contrast (PC) MRI using jointly learned wave encoding and reconstruction. Methods Pseudo‐fully sampled neurovascular 4D flow data (N = 40) and a simulation framework were used to learn phase encoding locations, wave readout parameters, and model‐based reconstruction network (MoDL) for a rapid 3D PC scan (

Repeatability of Rapid Human Cardiac Phosphorus MRSI (31P‐MRSI) Using Concentric Ring Trajectory Readouts at 7 T

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 2508-2514, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose PCr/ATP ratio is determined at 7 T typically using Fourier‐transform based magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging sequences (FT‐MRSI). These sequences require acquisition times longer than desirable for inclusion in cardiac clinical trials. Concentric ring trajectory (CRT‐MRSI) has been described as an accelerated alternative k‐space

Stochastic Dynamics From Maximum Entropy in Action Space

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT We develop an information‐theoretic formulation of stochastic dynamics in which the fundamental stochastic variable is the total action connecting spacetime points, rather than individual paths. By maximizing Shannon entropy over a joint distribution of actions and endpoints, subject to normalization and a constraint on the mean action, we ...

Rayleigh Waves From OHANA OBSs in the Northeast Pacific Ocean Reveal Low Deep Shear Velocities and Pervasive Azimuthal Anisotropy

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract The 2021–2023 OHANA ocean‐bottom seismometer deployment in the northeast Pacific Ocean provides a rich data set for seismic studies to explore the crust, lithosphere and asthenosphere in a 600 km wide region about 1,500 km northeast of Hawaii, west of the Moonless Mountains. The study area covers mainly 40‐to‐55 Myr‐old Pacific lithosphere.

A Machine Learning Parameterization for the Internal Gravity Wave Spectrum

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We introduce a stochastic model designed to parametrize the spectral properties of internal waves, using two functions that represent the semidiurnal spectral tidal cusps and the energy continuum between the inertial and the buoyancy frequencies.

Kelvin‐Helmholtz Stability Analysis as a Function of Dipole Tilt and Solar Wind Property

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Kelvin‐Helmholtz instabilities (KHIs) play a critical role in facilitating mass and momentum transport across the magnetopause boundary. Recent studies have demonstrated that KHI occurrence exhibits both seasonal and diurnal variability, with enhanced activity when Earth's magnetic dipole is more closely aligned with the northward direction in

An Analysis of the Anomalous Response of the Van Allen Probes EFW Instrument

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Recent in situ measurements of electric fields from missions such as Polar, DEMETER, and the Van Allen Probes have reported anomalies in double‐probe electric field measurements, attributed to unintended coupling between the sensor and nearby driven stub surfaces through the ambient plasma.
