Transgenic manipulation of beta-adrenergic receptor kinase modifies cardiac myocyte contraction to norepinephrine

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1997
To determine the direct functional significance of the beta-adrenergic receptor (AR) kinase 1 (beta ARK1) on myocardial performance in the absence of tonic sympathoadrenal neural activation and mechanical loading, we measured the contractile responses to acute beta 1-AR stimulation in left ventricular myocytes isolated from nontransgenic control (NTG)

Molecular Cloning, Functional Expression and mRNA Analysis of Human Beta-Adrenergic Receptor Kinase 2

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993
In the present study the cDNA of human beta ARK2 was cloned using both PCR and cDNA library screening, subcloned into an expression vector and transiently expressed in COS7 cells. The expressed kinase activity was approximately 40% as efficient as human beta ARK1 in phosphorylating bovine rod outer segments in vitro. Northern blot analysis of human and

Serum creatine kinase release and alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors.

Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 1986
Changes in the serum creatine kinase (CK) activity and the mechanism of its release after administration of two kinds of beta-blockers to rats were studied in order to determine the mechanism of the increase in serum CK accompanying administration of beta-blockers.

Involvement of protein kinase in the regulation of beta-adrenergic receptors by antidepressants.

International journal of clinical pharmacology research, 1989
The role of serotonin (5-HT) and protein kinases in the regulation of the beta-receptor induced by typical and atypical antidepressants was investigated. Treatment with either mianserin or maprotiline for seven days produced a significant decrease in the beta-receptor density measured 6h after the last dose.

Mutation screening and association study of the beta-adrenergic receptor kinase 2 gene in schizophrenia families

Psychiatry Research, 2004
Chromosome 22q12 is one of the most promising regions for harboring a risk gene for schizophrenia. We have reported significant linkage of intermediate phenotypes for schizophrenia with markers within or near the beta-adrenergic receptor kinase 2 (ADRBK2, or GRK3) gene, which is highly expressed in dopaminergic pathways in the central nervous system ...
