Previous studies have demonstrated that muscarinic cholinergic receptors (mAChR) become markedly phosphorylated when intact cardiac cells are stimulated with a muscarinic agonist. This process appears to be related to the process of receptor desensitization. However, the mechanism of agonist-induced phosphorylation of mAChR is not known.

The β-adrenergic receptor kinase in heart failure
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2003Heart failure (HF) remains a significant and increasing cause of worldwide morbidity and mortality. HF is less a disease than a common clinical endpoint resulting from diverse, but often co-existing etiologies-including hypertension, coronary artery disease, and viral cardiomyopathy.

To determine the direct functional significance of the beta-adrenergic receptor (AR) kinase 1 (beta ARK1) on myocardial performance in the absence of tonic sympathoadrenal neural activation and mechanical loading, we measured the contractile responses to acute beta 1-AR stimulation in left ventricular myocytes isolated from nontransgenic control (NTG)

In the present study the cDNA of human beta ARK2 was cloned using both PCR and cDNA library screening, subcloned into an expression vector and transiently expressed in COS7 cells. The expressed kinase activity was approximately 40% as efficient as human beta ARK1 in phosphorylating bovine rod outer segments in vitro. Northern blot analysis of human and

Serum creatine kinase release and alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors.
Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 1986Changes in the serum creatine kinase (CK) activity and the mechanism of its release after administration of two kinds of beta-blockers to rats were studied in order to determine the mechanism of the increase in serum CK accompanying administration of beta-blockers.

Involvement of protein kinase in the regulation of beta-adrenergic receptors by antidepressants.
International journal of clinical pharmacology research, 1989The role of serotonin (5-HT) and protein kinases in the regulation of the beta-receptor induced by typical and atypical antidepressants was investigated. Treatment with either mianserin or maprotiline for seven days produced a significant decrease in the beta-receptor density measured 6h after the last dose.
