Estimation of Mixing Index and Contact Number by Coordination Number Sampling in an Incompletely Mixed State [Translated]†

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
A statistical model of the distribution of the contact number for a binary mixture in an incompletely mixed state is introduced. The model is derived from the beta-binomial model proposed by Yoshizawa and Shindo3 ...

Global Energy Corporations and Climate Change: The Role of Formal and Informal Institutions in Shaping Climate Change Risk Disclosure

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines climate change risk disclosure in the global energy sector, where firms face intense stakeholder scrutiny and legitimacy pressures. We develop a novel domain‐specific textual analysis measure to capture climate change risk disclosures, improving on prior approaches based on generic environmental terminology.

A note on empirical sample distribution of journal impact factors in major discipline groups [PDF]

open access: yes
What type of statistical distribution do the Journal Impact Factors follow? In the past, researchers have hypothesized various types of statistical distributions underlying the generation mechanism of journal impact factors. These are: lognormal, normal,

From Eco‐Policy to Green Practice: Government Eco‐Initiatives, Managerial Attention and Frugal Green Innovation in Saudi Arabia

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Considering the need for environmental sustainability and fulfillment of the needs of customers at the bottom of the pyramid, this study integrates the attention‐based view of organizations and situational leadership theory to examine the impact of government eco‐initiatives on frugal green innovation through managerial attention toward the ...

Crafted Responsibility: How Handmade Language Shapes Social Media Engagement for Socially (Ir)Responsible Luxury Fashion Brands

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research examines how the disclosure of production cues interacts with corporate social responsibility cues to influence social media engagement in luxury fashion. Two complementary field studies analyse marketer‐generated Facebook posts from luxury fashion brands, providing large‐scale empirical evidence of a real‐world impact on ...

C14 | Improving inference based on sampling plan results using the Bayesian beta-binomial model: the case of the algal biotoxin monitoring plan for natural beds of Chamelea gallina clams

open access: yesItalian Journal of Food Safety
Purpose. This paper illustrates how the adoption of a Bayesian beta-binomial model can improve statistical inference techniques and, consequently, the reliability of decisions based on the outcomes of food safety sampling plans.

Restricted Tweedie stochastic block models

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The stochastic block model (SBM) is a widely used framework for community detection in networks, where the network structure is typically represented by an adjacency matrix. However, conventional SBMs are not directly applicable to an adjacency matrix that consists of nonnegative zero‐inflated continuous edge weights.

A goodness‐of‐fit test for regression models with discrete outcomes

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Regression models are often used to analyze discrete outcomes, but classical goodness‐of‐fit tests such as those based on the deviance or Pearson's statistic can be misleading or have little power in this context. To address this issue, we propose a new test, inspired by the work of Czado et al.

Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.
