This review analyzes single/combined abiotic (light, water, nutrients, hormones) and biotic (microbes, yeast) elicitors regulating signaling, gene expression, and metabolism to boost plant secondary metabolites. It highlights synergistic multielicitor strategies for crop quality and functional foods, while critically addressing current limitations and ...

Abstract BACKGROUND Olive (Olea europaea L.) byproducts, such as seeds and leaves, are abundant agro‐industrial residues and represent underexplored protein sources with potential health relevance. However, the repertoire of bioactive peptides that may be released from olive proteins during gastrointestinal digestion remains poorly characterized.

The essential oils of three Origanum species were chemically characterized and evaluated for their antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities. The different compositions confer selective bioactivities: O. vulgare exhibits good antioxidant and α‐glucosidase inhibitory activity, O. majorana shows promising tyrosinase inhibition, and O.

ABSTRACT A global shift from diets rich in animal‐based products toward plant‐based diets has been widely promoted as a key strategy for creating more sustainable food systems. However, the adoption of plant‐based alternatives depends on multiple factors, including consumer preferences, sensory quality, product affordability, and availability, in ...

GC-MS-Based Metabolomic Insights Into Fermentation-Induced Bioactive Compounds and Metabolic Health-Related Activities of White Corn Steep Liquor. [PDF]
Time‐dependent fermentation caused dynamic changes in the bioactive constituents of white corn steep liquor and improved its antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antiobesogenic activities in vitro. ABSTRACT The present study investigated the effect of crude fermentation on white corn steep liquor and its bioactive constituents in the management of metabolic ...

Beta-glucosidase activity as a diagnostic index of Gaucher's disease.
Gaucher's disease is a disorder characterised by accumulation of glucocerebroside in the cells of the reticuloendothelial system due to the deficit of β-glucosidase. The lack of one iso-enzyme of β-glucosidase can be detected in the Iymphocytes of the homozygotes and a severe deficit is found in the heterozygotes of the disease.

We identify a female patient with a homozygous nonsense variant (p.Gln38Ter) in the LYSET gene. This is the first western report of a challenging case of an extensive diagnostic odyssey and demonstrates that the LYSET gene must be considered in the differential diagnosis when M6P‐labeled lysosomal enzymes are altered.
