TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Effect of carbon availability, phosphorus, and water soil content on GHG emissions: insights from a soil incubation study

open access: yesFrontiers in Soil Science
Bio-Based Fertilisers (BBFs) derived from nutrient recovery are increasingly promoted as sustainable alternatives to synthetic inputs. However, their effects on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions remain poorly understood, especially how carbon quality ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Comparing meat alternatives for a sustainable food system

open access: yesnpj Science of Food
This scoping review evaluates the potential of four alternative protein sources (plant-based meats, cultivated meat, insects, and single-cell proteins) to contribute to a sustainable food system. Using a holistic framework, each option is assessed across

An analysis of the relation between return and beta for portfolios of Turkish equities

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2016
The present study investigates the possible existence of a systematic relation between beta and excess-return for portfolios of Turkish equities. In the process, no systematic relation is found between beta and realized portfolio excess-return, in an ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
