Noise driven dynamic phase transition in a a one dimensional Ising-like model

open access: yes, 2010
The dynamical evolution of a recently introduced one dimensional model in \cite{biswas-sen} (henceforth referred to as model I), has been made stochastic by introducing a parameter $\beta$ such that $\beta =0$ corresponds to the Ising model and $\beta ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Age-dependent decline in beta-cell proliferation restricts the capacity of beta-cell regeneration in mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to elucidate whether age plays a role in the expansion or regeneration of beta-cell mass.Research design and methodsWe analyzed the capacity of beta-cell expansion in 1.5- and 8-month-old mice in response to a high-fat ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Activation of phospholipase C beta 2 by the alpha and beta gamma subunits of trimeric GTP-binding protein [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Cotransfection assays were used to show that the members of the GTP-binding protein Gq class of alpha subunits could activate phospholipase C (PLC) beta 2.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
