Modified two parameter ridge estimator for beta regression model

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences
A beta regression model (BRM) typically occurs when your data involves proportions or continuous response variables that are bounded between 0 and 1, and the distributional assumptions and functional forms of a GLM with a standard error distribution (e.g.

Derivatives of the Incomplete Beta Function

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 1998
The incomplete beta function is defined as where Beta(p, q) is the beta function. Dutka (1981) gave a history of the development and numerical evaluation of this function. In this article, an algorithm for computing first and second derivatives of Ix,p,q

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Modelling Recovery Rates for Non-Performing Loans

open access: yesRisks, 2019
Based on a rich dataset of recoveries donated by a debt collection business, recovery rates for non-performing loans taken from a single European country are modelled using linear regression, linear regression with Lasso, beta regression and inflated ...

A guide to modeling proportions with Bayesian beta and zero-inflated beta regression models

open access: yes, 2021
In the data I work with, it's really common to come across data that's measured as proportions: the percent of women in the public sector workforce, the amount of foreign aid a country receives as a percent of its GDP, the percent of religious organizations in a state's nonprofit sector, and so on.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Comparison between variational Monte Carlo and shell model calculations of neutrinoless double beta decay matrix elements in light nuclei

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
Benchmark comparisons between many-body methods are performed to assess the ingredients necessary for an accurate calculation of neutrinoless double beta decay matrix elements.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Developmental beta-cell death orchestrates the islet’s inflammatory milieu by regulating immune system crosstalk

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal
While pancreatic beta-cell proliferation has been extensively studied, the role of cell death during islet development remains incompletely understood. Using a genetic model of caspase inhibition in beta cells coupled with mathematical modeling, we here ...

The $\beta$ Meixner model

open access: yes, 2010
We propose to approximate the Meixner model by a member of the $\beta$-family introduced in [Kuz10]. The advantage of such approximations are the semi–explicit formulas for the running extrema under the $\beta$-family processes which enables us to produce more efficient algorithms for certain exotic options.
