Beta-Liouville Regression and Applications

2019 6th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT), 2019
A novel regression algorithm has been proposed, Beta-Liouville regression, to solve regression of compositional data, where the prediction is multi-dimensional and sums to unity. Applications include market-share data mining in relation to its score in Google-trends and smart building occupancy estimation.

On nonlinear beta regression residuals

Biometrical Journal, 2017
We proposed a new residual to be used in linear and nonlinear beta regressions. Unlike the residuals that had already been proposed, the derivation of the new residual takes into account not only information relative to the estimation of the mean submodel but also takes into account information obtained from the precision submodel. This is an advantage

PLS Beta Regression

2012

BETAS AND THEIR REGRESSION TENDENCIES

The Journal of Finance, 1975
A PREVIOUS STUDY [3] showed that estimated beta coefficients, at least in the context of a portfolio of a large number of securities, were relatively stationary over time. Nonetheless, there was a consistent tendency for a portfolio with either an extremely low or high estimated beta in one period to have a less extreme beta as estimated in the next ...

Beta ridge regression estimators: simulation and application

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2021
The beta regression model is commonly used when analyzing data that come in the form of rates or percentages.

Geographically Weighted Beta Regression

Spatial Statistics, 2017
Abstract Linear regression models are often used to describe the relationship between a dependent variable and a set of independent variables. However, these models are based on the assumption that the error (or, in some cases, the response variable) is normally distributed with constant variance and that the relations are equal throughout space ...

A misspecification test for beta prime regression models

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2021
The beta prime regression model proposed by Bourguignon, Santos-Neto, and de Castro is an alternative to the generalized linear models and useful to model positive asymmetric data.

The Regression Tendencies of Betas: A Reappraisal

Financial Review, 1989
AbstractThis paper reexamines the regression tendencies of beta. We show that common assertions in the literature about regression tendencies go well beyond the facts established by Blume. We analyze betas during the 1926–1985 period and examine the tendencies of betas to change. Extreme betas do tend to move toward the mean.

On testing inference in beta regressions

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2012
This article deals with testing inference in the class of beta regression models with varying dispersion. We focus on inference in small samples. We perform a numerical analysis in order to evaluate the sizes and powers of different tests. We consider the likelihood ratio test, two adjusted likelihood ratio tests proposed by Ferrari and Pinheiro ...
