Effect of continuous far red on betaxanthin and betacyanin synthesis

Phytochemistry, 1973
Abstract Seedlings of Celosia plumosa under prolonged irradiation with far red light synthesize chlorophyll α and betaxanthin. Levulinic acid and 2,4-dinitrophenol, inhibitors of chlorophyll synthesis and cyclic photophosphorylation respectively, reduce betaxanthin synthesis. Pigment formation is also inhibited by actinomycin- D and puromycin, but

Betacyanins from plants and cell cultures of Phytolacca americana

Phytochemistry, 1996
Betacyanins from cell cultures of Phytolacca americana were characterized and compared with those of the stems and ripening fruits of the plant. Whereas in fruits prebetanin (betanin 6'-O-sulphate) and its isoform predominate, in the stem and cell cultures feruloylated derivatives occur as the major components.

Mammillarinin: A New Malonylated Betacyanin from Fruits of Mammillaria

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2007
A new betacyanin endogenously occurring in fruits of nine Mammillaria species, i.e., M. roseo-alba (Boedecker), M. donatii (Berge), M. coronata (Scheidweiler), M. karwinskiana (Martius), M. gummifera (Engelmann), M. infernillensis (Craig), M. centricirrha (Lemaire), M. krameri (Muehlenpfordt), and M.

Colorant Properties and Stability ofAmaranthusBetacyanin Pigments

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1998
Color, spectral characteristics, and stability of betacyanin pigments of 21 genotypes from 7 Amaranthus species were evaluated. Wide variation in color characteristics and significant differences in pigment stability were found as much within as between Amaranthus species.

Effect of tetraalkylammonium salts on retention of betacyanins and decarboxylated betacyanins in ion-pair reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography

Journal of Chromatography A, 2006
The ability of tetraalkylammonium salts to act as ion-pairing agents for betacyanins and mono- as well as bidecarboxylated betacyanins in HPLC on reversed phase is reported. The results indicate substantial and various influences of tetraalkylammonium salt addition to eluent on magnitude and direction of retention time changes of the analytes.

Chromatographic investigation on acyl migration in betacyanins and their decarboxylated derivatives

Journal of Chromatography B, 2008
Chemopreventive and antioxidant action of betalain pigments can differ in dependence on their stereoselective properties, therefore, it is necessary to use relevant methods for monitoring of their possible stereoisomers. Chromatographic characterisation of a group of new isomers of various 6'-O-acylated betacyanins and decarboxylated betacyanins which ...
