Short and symmetrical OHO hydrogen bond in bis(quinuclidine betaine) hydrochloride

Journal of Molecular Structure, 2010
Abstract The molecular structure of bis(quinuclidine betaine) hydrochloride, (QNB)2HCl, has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and by DFT calculations. The crystals are centrosymmetric, monoclinic, space group C2/c.

Irradiated betaine hydrochloride: the free radical, N(CH3)3+

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1973
The e.s.r. parameters for the free radical, N(CH3)3+, trapped in monoclinic single crystals of ?-irradiated betaine hydrochloride, have been investigated. The hyperfine splittings have isotropic values, ANiso = 2.26 mT and Aß-Hiso = 2.79 mT, and the isotropic value of the g-tensor is 2.0039.

Structure of 12-hydroxynorfluorocurarine, its hydrochloride, quaternary salts and a zwitterionic betaine

Journal of Structural Chemistry, 2014
The crystal structures of 12-hydroxynorfluorocurarine (vincanidine) isolated from the plant Vinca erecta, its hydrochloride monohydrate, quaternary salts — chloromethylate and iodomethylate, and the quaternary base (zwitterionic betaine) have been studied. The asymmetric centers of the molecules have the 3S, 7R, 15S configuration.

Conversion of fructose and inulin to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in sustainable betaine hydrochloride-based media

Green Chem., 2012
We show here that betaine hydrochloride (BHC), a co-product of the carbohydrate industry, can be used for the design of cheap and safe media capable of promoting the dehydration of fructose and inulin to HMF. In particular, in these BHC-based media, HMF was obtained with up to 84% yield, thus offering a competitive route to the traditional imidazolium ...

Electron paramagnetic resonance and FT-IR spectroscopic studies of glycine anhydride and betaine hydrochloride

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 2015
Gamma irradiated powders of glycine anhydride and betaine hydrochloride have been investigated at room temperature by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). In these compounds, the observed paramagnetic species were attributed to the R1 and R2 radicals, respectively. It was determined that the free electron interacted with environmental protons and 14N

Electron Spin Resonance in Irradiated Single Crystals of Betaine Hydrochloride

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1964
Radicals trapped in electron-irradiated single crystals of betaine hydrochloride, (CH/sub 3/)/sub 3/N/sup +/ CH/sub 2/COO/sup -/, were s tudied. Irradiation was carried out at room temperature with 1 Mev electrons. The dosages ranged from 1 to 5 Mrad and had no apparent effect on the nature of the free radicals formed in betaine. The spectrum along the
