Estimating body mass of wild pigs (Sus scrofa) using body morphometrics

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2023., 2023
We developed a set of equations to predict wild pig body mass from other morphometric measures. Data were collected and validated from eight different areas in the United States, Australia, and Guam. Abstract Wild pigs (Sus scrofa) are invading many areas globally and impacting biodiversity and economies in their non‐native range.

Multi‐scale species density model for conserving an endangered songbird

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 86, Issue 5, July 2022., 2022
Remotely sensed data can be used to map the gradient of conditions that occur across a species' range and generate predictors at multiple biologically relevant scales for modeling species density. A model built with this approach found 64% of the predicted abundance of golden‐cheeked warblers occurred in the Balcones Canyonlands ecoregion and indicated
