Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

An Interpersonal Application of Fresh Starts in the Context of Trust Repair

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Administrative Sciences / Revue Canadienne des Sciences de l'Administration, Volume 43, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper examines how fresh starts motivate victims in newly formed relationships to initiate the process of trust repair following a transgressor's violation. Building on prior research studies that have emphasized the intrapersonal effects of fresh starts, this work extends the concept to an interpersonal context, examining whether ...

THF: Designing Low-Latency Tweakable Block Ciphers

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology
We introduce the Three-Hash Framework (THF), a new instantiation of the LRW+ paradigm that employs three hash functions to process tweak inputs. We prove that THF achieves beyond-birthday-bound security under standard assumptions.

Barriers and pathways to engagement in a home visiting intervention: Parents’ perspectives on minding the baby

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 47, Issue 5, September 2026.
Abstract Caregivers play a critical role in early child development, yet adverse experiences such as trauma or mental health difficulties can compromise caregiving. Minding the Baby (MTB) is a home‐visiting intervention supporting vulnerable families from pregnancy to the child's second birthday.

AISyst: AI‐Powered Interactive Visual System to Assist With Fidelity Assessment of Synthetic Tabular Data

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Evaluating synthetic data produced by generative models remains a critical challenge in sensitive domains such as healthcare and finance. Ensuring that such data is ‘faithful’ to real data is essential for downstream applications and decision‐making, including regulatory compliance. This paper introduces an AI‐powered interactive visual system—

Generic Attacks on Double Block Length Sponge Hashing

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology
The sponge construction is one of the main modes of operation for hash functions. Using a permutation of width b = r + c, the sponge construction with rate r and capacity c is indifferentiable up to Ω(2c/2) permutation calls.
