Breaking the norm: Absence of seed size/seed number trade‐off in Hymanaea stigonocarpa, a tree species from the Brazilian semi‐arid

open access: yesPlant Species Biology, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 472-482, September 2025.
Seed size/number trade‐off is a central topic in plant biology as it reflects ecological and evolutionary aspects of the species. Here we report the absence of a trade‐off mass/number of seeds and fruits in a polyspermic plant probably associated to abortion of self‐pollinated pistils and flowers.

Host–parasite relationship in urban environments: A network analysis of haemoparasite infections in Nasua nasua Linnaeus (South American coati)

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 456-463, September 2025.
Urban environments alter host–parasite dynamics, as seen in Nasua nasua, where haemotropic Mycoplasma plays a key role in parasite spread through frequent social interactions. Network analysis revealed low modularity in interactions between N. nasua and tick‐borne haemoparasites, with functional roles unaffected by biotic factors, tick infestation or ...

¿CÓMO UNA ESPECIE EXÓTICA SE CONVIERTE EN INVASORA?

open access: yesTecnociencia, 2010

Vineyard maturity increases arbuscular mycorrhizal and decreases plant pathogen fungal relative abundance in bulk soil across a 1,000 km Chilean gradient

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 4, Page 987-997, July 2025.
Wine production has a significant impact on the global economy. Despite this, the microbial composition of the terroir has not been studied sufficiently, particularly in the southern hemisphere. Here, we investigated how bulk soil fungal communities are affected by several abiotic and biotic factors across 1,000 km of Chilean vineyards.

Terroir and rootstock effects on leaf shape in California Central Valley vineyards

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 7, Issue 4, Page 1110-1122, July 2025.
The innumerable effects of terroir—including climate, soil, microbial environment, biotic interactions, and cultivation practice—collectively alter plant performance and production. A more direct agricultural intervention is grafting, in which genetically distinct shoot and root genotypes are surgically combined to create a chimera that alters shoot ...

Young maize plants impact the bacterial community in Australian cotton‐sown vertisol more than agricultural practices

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2025.
In an irrigated Vertisol, different cotton farming systems affected only a few bacterial groups and potential metabolic functions. However, the application of maize plants or their neutral detergent fibre fraction had a significant impact on many of them. Abstract Changes in soil characteristics due to varying farming practices can modify the structure
