“Microbial and immune modulation by 2’-fucosyllactose supplementation during gestation: a strategy to prevent food allergies”

open access: yesGut Microbes
Food allergies are linked to dysfunction in intestinal microbiota, the immune system and the intestinal epithelial barrier, leading to immune tolerance failure at birth. We hypothesized that a diet enriched with a Human Milk Oligosaccharide (HMO), the 2’-

PCOS HASTALARINDA BİYOELEKTRİK İMPEDANS ANALİZİ İLE DEĞERLENDİRİLEN VÜCUT KOMPOZİSYONLARININ; METABOLİK, HORMONAL VE ANTROPOMETRİK ÖLÇÜMLERLE KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

open access: yesJournal of Contemporary Medicine, 2021
Amaç: Bu çalışmada, PCOS’lu ve sağlıklı kontrol grubu hastalarında, vücut kompozisyon parametreleri BIA (Biyoelektrik İmpedans Analizi) ile ölçülerek, metabolik, antropometrik ve hormonal parametrelerle karşılaştırılmıştır.

Verification bias [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, 2018
This article is part of the Catalogue of Bias series. We present a description of verification bias, and outline its potential impact on research studies and the preventive steps to minimise its risk. We also present teaching slides in the online supplementary file.

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.

Studying Macromolecular Composition in Cell–Cell Interfaces Using 3D Membrane Reconstitution Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A comprehensive understanding of the interactions between proteins, lipids and glycocalyx components at the immune synapse is still lacking. Here, an artificial and a semi‐artificial model contact system were established to reconstitute the cell‐cell contact in 3D. The model systems enable the examination of macromolecule enrichment or depletion at the

Building a Robust Investigator‐Initiated Platform: The I‐CARE Experience

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Investigator‐initiated studies that include information collected by patients are rising, but limited data is available on patient and investigator experience in this setting. The I‐CARE cohort included patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) monthly collecting clinical information in 15 countries for up to 6 years.

Exploring the biodiversity of plant proteins for sustainable foods: Composition and emulsifying properties of the proteins recovered by aqueous extraction from camelina (Camelina sativa L.) seeds

open access: yesCurrent Research in Food Science
The food transition towards an increased consumption of plant proteins aimed at limiting environmental impacts requires a diversification of plant protein sources.

Pickering nanoemulsions: An overview of manufacturing processes, formulations, and applications

open access: yesJCIS Open, 2021
There is an increasing demand for emulsions with low viscosity, a large fraction of dispersed phase, high transparency, or long shelf life. Emulsions consisting of nanosized dispersed droplets meet these criteria, but conventional nanoemulsions require ...

Blind Interference Alignment for Private Information Retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Blind interference alignment (BIA) refers to interference alignment schemes that are designed only based on channel coherence pattern knowledge at the transmitters (the "blind" transmitters do not know the exact channel values).

Molecular Bias

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Epidemiology, 2005
Bias is ubiquitous in research. The advent of the molecular era provides a unique opportunity to study the consequences of bias with large-scale empirical evidence accumulated in the massive data produced by the current discovery-oriented scientific effort, rather than just with theoretical speculations and constructs.
