Random walk theory of jamming in a cellular automaton model for traffic flow

open access: yes, 2001
The jamming behavior of a single lane traffic model based on a cellular automaton approach is studied. Our investigations concentrate on the so-called VDR model which is a simple generalization of the well-known Nagel-Schreckenberg model.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Investigating the causal effect of smoking on hay fever and asthma: a Mendelian randomization meta-analysis in the CARTA consortium

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Observational studies on smoking and risk of hay fever and asthma have shown inconsistent results. However, observational studies may be biased by confounding and reverse causation. Mendelian randomization uses genetic variants as markers of exposures to

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

MR-SPLIT: A novel method to address selection and weak instrument bias in one-sample Mendelian randomization studies.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics
Mendelian Randomization (MR) is a widely embraced approach to assess causality in epidemiological studies. Two-stage least squares (2SLS) method is a predominant technique in MR analysis.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

A consideração da estrutura das unidades em inferências derivadas do experimento The consideration of the unit structure in inferences from the experiment

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 1999
O modelo estatístico deve exprimir corretamente a estrutura do experimento. Isso é necessário para garantir que os componentes de variância que afetam efeitos referentes a fatores experimentais sejam idênticos aos componentes de variância usados para ...

Matching on-the-fly in Sequential Experiments for Higher Power and Efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a dynamic allocation procedure that increases power and efficiency when measuring an average treatment effect in sequential randomized trials.

Comment on “Localization Transition of Biased Random Walks on Random Networks” [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2007
Sood and Grassberger studied in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 098701 (2007)] random walks on random graphs that are biased towards a fixed target point. They put forward a critical bias strength b_c such that a random walker on an infinite graph eventually reaches the target with probability 1 when b>b_c, while a finite fraction of walks drift off to ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.
