Minimizing error in estimates of the effect of interventions by accounting for baseline measurements: A simulation study analyzing effects on child growth

open access: yesMaternal and Child Nutrition, 2023
Interventions to reduce childhood stunting burden require clinical trials with a primary outcome of linear growth. When growth is measured longitudinally, there are several options for including baseline measurements in the analysis.

Robust Tests for Treatment Effect in Survival Analysis under Covariate-Adaptive Randomization

open access: yes, 2019
Covariate-adaptive randomization is popular in clinical trials with sequentially arrived patients for balancing treatment assignments across prognostic factors which may have influence on the response.

Combining the strengths of inverse-variance weighting and Egger regression in Mendelian randomization using a mixture of regressions model.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2021
With the increasing availability of large-scale GWAS summary data on various traits, Mendelian randomization (MR) has become commonly used to infer causality between a pair of traits, an exposure and an outcome.

Unbiased Learning to Rank with Unbiased Propensity Estimation

open access: yes, 2018
Learning to rank with biased click data is a well-known challenge. A variety of methods has been explored to debias click data for learning to rank such as click models, result interleaving and, more recently, the unbiased learning-to-rank framework ...

Regularity of biased 1D random walks in random environment

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Probability and Mathematical Statistics, 2019
We study the asymptotic properties of nearest-neighbor random walks in 1d random environment under the influence of an external field of intensity $ \in\mathbb{R}$. For ergodic shift-invariant environments, we show that the limiting velocity $v( )$ is always increasing and that it is everywhere analytic except at most in two points $ _-$ and $ _+$.

The HIT Network for Children and Adolescents With CNS Tumors Facilitates Improvements of Diagnostic Assessments, Multimodal Treatments, Individual Counseling, and Research in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The HIT network was established in 2000 to create a population‐based structure aiming to improve survival rates and reduce late effects for children with central nervous system (CNS) tumors by conducting comprehensive clinical trials.

Dinucleotide controlled null models for comparative RNA gene prediction

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2008
Background Comparative prediction of RNA structures can be used to identify functional noncoding RNAs in genomic screens. It was shown recently by Babak et al. [BMC Bioinformatics.

Multi-objective optimal designs in comparative clinical trials with covariates: The reinforced doubly adaptive biased coin design

open access: yes, 2012
The present paper deals with the problem of allocating patients to two competing treatments in the presence of covariates or prognostic factors in order to achieve a good trade-off among ethical concerns, inferential precision and randomness in the ...

Markov Chain Beam Randomization: a study of the impact of PLANCK beam measurement errors on cosmological parameter estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce a new method to propagate uncertainties in the beam shapes used to measure the cosmic microwave background to cosmological parameters determined from those measurements.

Stressful Events Reported by Childhood Cancer Survivors and Community Controls From the St. Jude Lifetime (SJLIFE) Cohort: A Mixed Method Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Characterizing stressful events reported by childhood cancer survivors experienced throughout the lifespan may help improve trauma‐informed care relevant to the survivor experience. Methods Participants included 2552 survivors (54% female; 34 years of age) and 469 community controls (62% female; 33 years of age) from the St.
