Low-Cycle Fatigue under Biaxial Strain
1982The present work aims to obtain some information about the crack initiation criterion under biaxial low-cycle fatigue strain in phase or 180 deg out of phase. The investigation was carried out on A 316 stainless steel. A servohydraulic experimental rig was developed for application of biaxial high-strain reversed cycles. The strains were

Biaxial Fatigue Testing of Thin Films
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006A new experimental setup, which allows for testing in an equi‐biaxial loading condition, has been developed and applied to investigate the fatigue behaviour of thin films. A load controlled cycling, performed at room temperature on flat specimens, reproduces the strain amplitude and mean strain in the film corresponding to a thermal cycling in a given ...

Development of a biaxial fatigue testing rig
Journal of Strain Analysis, 1975A biaxial fatigue testing rig which employs cruciform specimens loaded by four double-acting hydraulic cylinders has been improved by the addition of a closed-loop servo-control system. This system enables the loads or strains in the two principal directions to be varied independently of each other. The paper describes the modifications that were made

FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH UNDER BIAXIAL LOADING
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1993Fatigue crack growth under biaxial loading for long cracks subjected to low cyclic stress levels was investigated. The biaxial stress ratio λ ranging from ‐0.5 to + 1.0 was considered. The strain energy density factor range was used as the criterion for predicting the crack growth rates and crack path.

Biaxial Fatigue Tests in PWR Environment
Volume 1: Codes & StandardsAbstract The FABIME2e test rig was developed in CEA in France to perform biaxial fatigue tests on disc-shaped specimens. Previous tests aimed to evaluate the Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) environment’s effect on fatigue life at constant strain amplitude (triangular waveforms) on various stainless steels.

Fatigue crack behaviors under asynchronous biaxial loading
International Journal of Fatigue, 2019Abstract Crack behavior of aluminum alloy 2A12-T4 is investigated experimentally and numerically using cruciform specimens subjected to in-plane biaxial loadings applied in horizontal (x axis) and vertical (y axis) directions. Different cruciform configuration plans, with variant sizes of slots in loading arms and different transitional fillet radius

Fatigue crack propagation in biaxial stress fields
The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 1977The propagation of fatigue cracks in notched and un-notched biaxially stressed plates is investigated. The rate of propagation is found to be affected by both the stress field associated with the notch and the biaxial stress state of the bulk material.

Stress Relaxation on Biaxial Low Cycle Fatigue
Materials Science Forum, 2002Biaxial low-cycle fatigue composed of tension/compression with a static torsion was carried out on specimens of alloy steel used for shafts in mechanical structures. The behaviour of both the uniaxial and torsional stress during low cycle fatigue is analyzed for different levels of elasticity and plasticity.

Corrosion and biaxial fatigue of welded structures
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract The aim of this research is to develop an experimental approach for corrosion fatigue behaviour of welded structures subjected to simultaneous biaxial, rotating-bending and torsional loading, results of which could be used in railway bridges, ship, offshore structures, ground vehicles etc.

Biaxial Tension-Tension Fatigue Strengths of Metals
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1949Abstract This paper describes a new fatigue testing machine for the application of tension-tension biaxial stresses and presents the results of an investigation on the biaxial fatigue strength of Alcoa 24S-T. The influence of various ratios of the maximum values of the principal stresses upon the fatigue strength was determined ...
