Statistical assessment of multiaxial HCF criteria at the grain scale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Multiaxial high cycle fatigue modeling of materials is an issue that concerns many industrial domains (automotive, aerospace, nuclear, etc.) and in which many progress still remains to be achieved.

Silicon‐Based Anodes for Sulfide Solid‐State Batteries: Failure Mechanisms and Multiscale Design Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Silicon anodes in sulfide SSBs face coupled electrochemo‐mechanical failure by interface instability. This review examined recent advances and proposed mitigation strategies via material‐, electrode/interface‐, and cell‐level‐ engineering. We further evaluate scalable synthesis of sulfide SEs.

Restrained composite columns [PDF]

open access: yes
This Thesis describes the development of an analysis for inelastic columns, with cross-sections composed of one or more materials, loaded with axial load and biaxial moments. The column can have both rotational and directional restraints at its ends.

ANALYSIS ON LIMIT LOAD AND J-INTEGRAL FOR EMBEDDED AND PROPAGATED CRACK PLATES UNDER BIAXIAL LOADING

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2020
Ligament rupture occurs for embedded crack plate under biaxial loading. Then, embedded crack will propagate as surface crack,through-thickness cracks or extended surface cracks.

BIAXIAL LOADING DEVICE FOR DYNAMIC CONCRETE RESPONSE

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1988
At the Delft University of Technology the dynamic material response of concrete is being investigated, using the Split Hopkinson Bar technique (SHB). To gain more insight into the influence of initial stress conditions on the dynamic response, the SHB has been combined with a static compression loading device perpendicular to the SHB.

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.
