Biaxially Loaded Beam-Column Analysis

Journal of the Structural Division, 1971
A computerized numerical approach is presented for computing the maximum load carrying capacity of steel columns under biaxially eccentric load with eccentricities of loading different at each end. The computed results are compared with the existing analytical and experimental studies and good agreement is observed.

Strength of composite laminates under biaxial loads

Applied Composite Materials, 1996
Five well known failure criteria and one simple progressive model have been used in conjunction with laminate theory, which allows for nonlinear lamina shear behaviour, to predict the initial and final failure strengths of filament wound composite tubes.

Angled Elliptic Notch Problem Under Biaxial Loading

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1980
The strain failure criterion proposed by the second author is applied to obtain general solutions for the angled elliptic notch problem subject to uniform biaxial loading. The solutions can be reduced to those for uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, or pure shear as special cases.

Biaxially Loaded Reinforced Concrete Columns

Journal of the Structural Division, 1958
Numerical procedure to determine actual stress and strain distribution of given or tentatively selected reinforced concrete section subjected to compressive axial load and bending moments in both directions about principal axes; investigation is based on ultimate strength theories of V.P.JENSEN and E.HOGNESTAD.

Modelling fibre–matrix debonding under biaxial loading

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2014
Abstract In the present work, a model for fibre–matrix debonding initiation under the biaxial loading condition (plane tension combined with out of plane shear) is proposed. The model is developed within the frame of Finite Fracture Mechanics and it is capable of predicting the critical stress value for the onset of debonding and the length of the ...

Multilaminate resorbable biomedical device under biaxial loading

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1998
The design and test of a multilaminate sheet developed for a hernia repair application is presented. As biomaterial applications become more complex, characterization of uniaxial properties becomes insufficient and biaxial testing becomes necessary. A measure of the in-plane biaxial strength of the device is inferred from a ball burst test. The results

Behavior of Fatigue Crack around a Hole under Biaxial Loading: Effect of Biaxial Static Load

Key Engineering Materials, 2005
Fatigue crack initiation and propagation behavior around a hole subjected to various biaxial fatigue loading modes has been investigated considering the effect of the biaxial static stress. Two different biaxial loading systems, i.e. cyclic tensile loading with static torsional load and cyclic torsional loading with static tensile load, were employed ...
