Angled Elliptic Notch Problem Under Biaxial Loading

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1980
The strain failure criterion proposed by the second author is applied to obtain general solutions for the angled elliptic notch problem subject to uniform biaxial loading. The solutions can be reduced to those for uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, or pure shear as special cases.

Biaxially Loaded Reinforced Concrete Columns

Journal of the Structural Division, 1958
Numerical procedure to determine actual stress and strain distribution of given or tentatively selected reinforced concrete section subjected to compressive axial load and bending moments in both directions about principal axes; investigation is based on ultimate strength theories of V.P.JENSEN and E.HOGNESTAD.

The effect of biaxiality of loading in the orientation of caustics

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1983
Abstract The influence of biaxiality of loading on the orientation of caustics formed from the tips of a slant crack in an infinite plate was studied. Some intricate results on the subject were, also, emphasized. The correlation between characteristic values of stress-intensity factors and several combinations of the biaxiality ratio and the angle of

Modelling fibre–matrix debonding under biaxial loading

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2014
Abstract In the present work, a model for fibre–matrix debonding initiation under the biaxial loading condition (plane tension combined with out of plane shear) is proposed. The model is developed within the frame of Finite Fracture Mechanics and it is capable of predicting the critical stress value for the onset of debonding and the length of the ...

Multilaminate resorbable biomedical device under biaxial loading

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1998
The design and test of a multilaminate sheet developed for a hernia repair application is presented. As biomaterial applications become more complex, characterization of uniaxial properties becomes insufficient and biaxial testing becomes necessary. A measure of the in-plane biaxial strength of the device is inferred from a ball burst test. The results

Finite Thermoelasticity of Constrained Elastomers Subject to Biaxial Loading

Journal of Elasticity, 1997
Well accepted descriptors of the thermoelastic behavior of elastomers undergoing finite strain remain elusive largely due to the continuing lack of appropriate multiaxial data. In this paper we present a new theoretical framework for inferring thermoelastic constitutive relations directly from biaxial data.

A Model of Fracture Under Biaxial Loading

21st International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, Volume 3, 2002
An influence of longitudinal load on the crack growth rate in an isotropic elastic-plastic body under biaxial loading is discussed. As a result, the relationship between the crack growth rate and maximum sizes of monotonic and cyclic plastic zones is derived from the dependence of the crack growth on alternating plastic strains near the crack edge ...

Rectangular Tubular Steel Columns Loaded Biaxially

Journal of Structural Mechanics, 1982
ABSTRACT An inelastic analysis of rectangular tubular steel columns subjected to a constant axial load and a gradually increasing biaxial end moment is presented. Analytical thrust-moment-curvature relationships are given for the cross section with bilinear material stress-strain characteristics. An iterative procedure based on column deflection curves

Development of a biaxial loading frame for sheet metal

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2013
Abstract Characterization of the evolving yield loci and forming limit diagrams for sheet materials under biaxial loading is necessary for the development of accurate sheet metal forming process simulations. Biaxial tension testing has been shown to have significant advantages over the current computational and experimental methods for such material ...
