Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Tension-Compression Asymmetry in AA2219: Effect of Temperature and Stress States [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
The tension-compression asymmetry (TCA) in AA2219 alloy exhibits distinct characteristics under varying loading conditions and temperatures. In uniaxial loading at room temperature, compressive stresses consistently exceed tensile stresses due to forming

Strain Engineering of Magnetoresistance and Magnetic Anisotropy in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biaxial compressive strain significantly enhances magnetoresistance and critical saturation fields in thin flakes of the 2D magnet CrSBr, along all three crystallographic axes. First‐principles calculations link these effects to strain‐induced increases in exchange interactions and magnetic anisotropy.

High temperature bi-axial low cycle fatigue behaviour of railway wheel steel [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
One of the most important aspects in railway operation is the interaction between rail and wheel. Railway wheels are commonly made from medium carbon steels (∼ 0.55 wt.% C), heat treated to a near pearlitic microstructure with some 5–10% pro-eutectoid ...

Design of a Biaxial Mechanical Loading Bioreactor for Tissue Engineering [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2013
We designed a loading device that is capable of applying uniaxial or biaxial mechanical strain to a tissue engineered biocomposites fabricated for transplantation. While the device primarily functions as a bioreactor that mimics the native mechanical strains, it is also outfitted with a load cell for providing force feedback or mechanical testing of ...

Analysis of biaxial proportional low-cycle fatigue and biaxial accumulative plasticity of hull inclined-crack plate

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
Fracture induced failure of plates in hull structures subjected to in-plane biaxial low-cycle fatigue loading are generally a combination of accumulative plasticity and biaxial low-cycle fatigue damage.
