A new test for investigating biaxial creep in sheet metal is described. The specimen is a thin circular diaphragm clamped at the edge and deflected by lateral hydrostatic pressure. Stress and strain in the central region of the specimen are determined from measurements of pressure and of extension and curvature at the pole.

Biaxial mechanical testing of human sclera
Journal of Biomechanics, 2010The biomechanical environment of the optic nerve head (ONH), of interest in glaucoma, is strongly affected by the biomechanical properties of sclera. However, there is a paucity of information about the variation of scleral mechanical properties within eyes and between individuals. We thus used biaxial testing to measure scleral stiffness in human eyes.

Biaxial Testing of Membrane Biomaterials: Testing Equipment and Procedures
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1991A testing facility for measuring the biaxial mechanical properties of highly deformable membranes is described. Forces are applied, via strain-gauge force transducers, to four points on each side of an initially square 12 to 25 mm membrane sample to produce biaxial extensions of up to 80 percent of undeformed length.

Biaxial Testing of Unidirectional Carbon-Epoxy Composite Using Biaxial Iosipescu Test Fixture
Journal of Composite Materials, 1997In this study, the biaxial Iosipescu test fixture has been employed to determine the failure properties of a unidirectional carbon-epoxy composite subjected to combined shear and transverse tensile stresses. The range of possible biaxial stress states has been extended by varying the fiber orientations in the Iosipescu specimens.

A versatile biaxial testing platform for soft tissues
Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2021Uniaxial testing remains the most common modality of mechanical analysis for biological and other soft materials; however, biaxial testing enables a more comprehensive understanding of these materials' mechanical behavior. In recent years, a number of commercially available biaxial testing systems designed for biological materials have been produced ...

Biaxial fracture testing of rubber compounds
2011ABSTRACT: In this work the fracture toughness of natural rubber compounds under biaxial tensile load- ing condition was evaluated determining the J-integral by finite element analysis. To this aim a sound consti- tutive equation from tests under simple well-identified stress states such as tensile and plane strain test con- figurations was first ...

Biaxial vibration-testing installation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1980The installation comprises means for subjecting a specimen-holder table to vibrations with respect to a massive support structure in two perpendicular directions, and guiding means which are independent of the vibration means. The guiding means are located between on the one hand the table and at least one connecting member and on the other hand the ...

A Review of Biaxial Test Methods for Composites
2007This paper will give an overview of the existing biaxial test methods for composite materials from the early beginning till the currently used methods. An evolution in both the biaxial testing capabilities and the applied inspection methods will be shown.
