Quantification of strains in biaxially tested soft tissues

Journal of Biomechanics, 1987
A technique for the quantification of the strain field in the central region of biaxially tested planar soft tissues is presented. A vidicon-based image analysis system interfaced to a PDP 11/34 minicomputer is employed to track particles affixed to the specimen surface in real-time, from which the strains are inferred.

Biaxial Brittle Fracture Tests

Journal of Basic Engineering, 1965
The brittle fracture characteristics of a particular steel can be evaluated by a notched specimen if sufficient triaxial tension or constraint is developed at the notch. A biaxially loaded notched test specimen has been developed in which a crack-like notch was prepared by compressing a V-notch. Data obtained with this specimen are compared to those of

Design of a biaxial test module for uniaxial testing machine

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017
Abstract A new design for a biaxial tensile testing module or fixture was developed to characterize a sheet metal specimen with a level of anisotropy. The main advantage of this fixture is the capability to perform tests in standard testing machines, besides its low-cost and easy mounting of the test specimen in comparison with other fixtures.

High-temperature biaxial testing machines in aerospace

Review of Scientific Instruments
High-temperature biaxial testing machines play an important role in the aerospace sector, being able to simulate complex mechanical and thermal environments similar to those encountered by airplanes in all phases of flight. This paper begins with an overview of the principles and development of high-temperature biaxial testing machines and then ...

Biaxial Testing Apparatuses and Procedures

2015
This chapter describes the mechanical data required during the realisation of architectural tensioned covers, the main testing procedures and the testing equipment currently in use for biaxial testing. In addition, the chapter presents the first inter-laboratory study between four research centres which repeated the same biaxial test originally ...

Biaxial tests on Sandvik Nanoflex

2006
Sandvik Nanoflex (ASTM-A 564) is a metastable steel that undergoes strain induced martensitic transformation during a mechanical deformation process. The aim of the experiments is to observe the transformation by recording the amount of martensite via a magnetic sensor.
