The Physicochemical, Textural and Sensory Properties of Traditional Sausages Made with Greek Buffalo Meat and Fat Using a Particular Mixture Design

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Applying a statistical mixture design, 10 different blending combinations of traditional Greek sausages were prepared based on different percentages of the three ingredients (buffalo meat: 40–70%; pork fat: 0–30%; buffalo fat: 0–30%).

Expression of Fused in sarcoma mutations in mice recapitulates the neuropathology of FUS proteinopathies and provides insight into disease pathogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Neurodegeneration, 2012
Background Mutations in the gene encoding the RNA-binding protein fused in sarcoma (FUS) can cause familial and sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and rarely frontotemproal dementia (FTD).

Interconnections of related BIBDs

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, 1969
AbstractIt is well known that a symmetrical “parent” BIBD gives rise to two related designs. Parker has given an example in which a design with the parameters of a residual design exists (a quasi-residual design), but the “parent” symmetric design is known not to exist; thus the quasi-residual design can not be embedded in a larger, symmetric design ...

Establishing a Spectral Optical CDMA System Involving the Use of Two Mutually Orthogonal States of Polarizations Using 1-D Two-Distinct Codes With Two-Code Keying

open access: yesIEEE Access
We propose 1-D Two-Distinct codes with two-code keying (TCK) using two mutually orthogonal states of polarization (SOP) in spectral components as a new code family for spectral amplitude coding (SAC) in optical code division multiple access (OCDMA ...

Some observations on three classical BIBD constructions

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2001
The authors use three well-known block design constructions to obtain new results on the number of non-isomorphic designs with certain parameters. In the first construction one starts with a \((v,b,r,k,1)\)-RBIBD and constructs a \((v+r,k+1,1)\)-BIBD by adding to all the blocks of each parallel class \(P\) an ``infinity'' point \(\infty_P\), and by ...

Analysis of AHP by BIBD

open access: yesJournal of the Operations Research Society of Japan, 1988
A bstmct The essence of AHP is to evaluate objects in terms of the eigen vector of the comparison matrix. But when the number of objects, n, is too large, it causes often worse reliability for an observer to evaluate all paired comparisons at a time. So it is necessary to decompose the whole set of pairs into several classes, and for each class to be ...

Evaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

open access: yesIranian Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2009
The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol.

Utilizing States of Polarization in One-Dimensional Corite Codes with Two-Code Keying for Optical Code-Division Multiple Access

open access: yesPhotonics
We propose a novel family of codes comprising two mutually orthogonal states of polarization (SOPs) for the spectral encoding of one-dimensional (1D) Corite codes with two-code keying (TCK) for use in the spectral amplitude coding (SAC) of optical code ...

Hip Capsular Closure

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2017
Objectives: Iatrogenic instability can result after hip arthroscopy due to capsular insufficiency, which can be avoided with an effective closure of the hip capsule.

The asymptotic existence of BIBDs having a nesting

open access: yesDesigns, Codes and Cryptography
A $(v,k,λ)$-BIBD $(X,\mathcal B)$ can be nested if there is a mapping $ϕ:\mathcal B\rightarrow X$ such that $(X,\{B\cup\{ϕ(B)\}\mid B\in\mathcal B\})$ is a $(v,k+1,λ+1)$-packing. A $(v,k,λ)$-BIBD has a (perfect) nesting if and only if its incidence graph has a harmonious (exact) coloring with $v$ colors.
