Kronecker products and BIBDs

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, 1973
AbstractRecursive constructions are given which permit, under conditions described in the paper, a (v, b, r, k, λ)-configuration to be used to obtain a (v′, b′, r′, k, λ)-configuration.

On the (15,5,\(\lambda\) )-family of BIBDs

open access: yesDiscret. Math., 1989
The authors enumerate completely the 1-rotational (15,5,4)-BIBDs and two subclasses of cyclic, and 1-rotational (15,5,6)-designs, respectively, as well as the resolvable (15,5,6)-BIBDs with an automorphism of order 5. The lower bounds for the number of nonisomorphic designs are substantially improved.

A subpopulation of arenavirus nucleoprotein localizes to mitochondria

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Viruses need cells for their replication and, therefore, ways to hijack cellular functions. Mitochondria play fundamental roles within the cell in metabolism, immunity and regulation of homeostasis due to which some viruses aim to alter mitochondrial ...

Weak and Strong Nestings of BIBDs [PDF]

open access: yesAustralas. J Comb.
We study two types of nestings of balanced incomplete block designs (BIBDs). In both types of nesting, we wish to add a point (the nested point) to every block of a $(v,k,λ)$-BIBD in such a way that we end up with a partial $(w,k+1,λ+1)$-BIBD for some $w \geq v$. In the case where $w > v$, we are introducing $w-v$ new points.

Consumer Health Perceptions of Cows' Milk and Plant‐Based Milk Alternatives

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study used a best‐worst scale experiment to reveal consumers' beliefs about the healthiness of selected cows' milk and plant‐based milk products based on their nutrition panels. We find that while there is heterogeneity in health perceptions, consumers overwhelmingly select skim milk as the healthiest milk product. Additionally, the cows'

Should statin guidelines consider patient preferences? Eliciting preferences of benefit and harm outcomes of statins for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in the sub-Saharan African and European contexts

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2018
Background Patient preferences are key parameters to evaluate benefit-harm balance of statins for primary prevention but they are not readily available to guideline developers and decision makers. Our study aimed to elicit patient preferences for benefit

Capacity of Sum-networks for Different Message Alphabets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A sum-network is a directed acyclic network in which all terminal nodes demand the `sum' of the independent information observed at the source nodes. Many characteristics of the well-studied multiple-unicast network communication problem also hold for ...
