Germanium (Ge) all‐dielectric metasurfaces can be leveraged to strongly enhance the radiative emission from Ge layers grown on silicon‐on‐insulator substrates by industry‐standard processes. At room‐temperature, the narrowband photoluminescence (PL) intensity is enhanced by a factor ∼40× with respect to unstructured films.

This work presents a robotic control method for human–robot collaborative assembly based on a biomechanics‐constrained digital human model. Reinforcement learning is used to generate physiologically plausible human motion trajectories, which are integrated into a virtual environment for robot control learning.

Multiphase oxidation of SO2 by NO2 on CaCO3 particles [PDF]
Heterogeneous/multiphase oxidation of SO2 by NO2 on solid or aqueous particles is thought to be a potentially important source of sulfate in the atmosphere, for example, during heavily polluted episodes (haze), but the reaction mechanism and rate are ...

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

The role of meteorological conditions and pollution control strategies in reducing air pollution in Beijing during APEC 2014 and Victory Parade 2015 [PDF]
To control severe air pollution in China, comprehensive pollution control strategies have been implemented throughout the country in recent years. To evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies, the influence of meteorological conditions on levels ...

Abstract Public distribution of imaging information from several MRI data processing projects at the BIC has lead to the development of this DEFACING algorithm that is used as part of anonymisation process. Key features of the algorithm include: the defacing should modify voxels associated with face of the subject, making a rendering of

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

Spin-dependent edge detection and imaging enabled by optical circularly polarised states
In photonic crystal slab (PCS) structures, the bound states in the continuum (BICs) and circularly polarised states (dubbed C-points) are critical topological polarisation singularities in momentum space that have garnered significant attention owing to ...

Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...
