New Standards for the Validation of EMC Test Sites particularly above 1 GHz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Standards for the validation of alternative test sites with conducting groundplane exist for the frequency range 30-1000 MHz since the end of the eighties.

How an antenna launches its input power into radiation: the pattern of the Poynting vector at and near an antenna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper I first address the question of whether the seat of the power radiated by an antenna made of conducting members is distributed over the ``arms'' of the antenna according to -J .

Experiment on Direction of Arrival Estimation of Atmospheric Spark Discharge Plasma Using Combined Time‐Domain Antenna

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Apart from interfering in the communication system of an aircraft, electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) radiated from spark discharge plasma, which is generated during high‐speed flight, can also be utilized in passive detection. In order to validate this idea, an experiment on direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of a spark discharge plasma target using its

Design and Initial Performance of the Askaryan Radio Array Prototype EeV Neutrino Detector at the South Pole

open access: yes, 2011
We report on studies of the viability and sensitivity of the Askaryan Radio Array (ARA), a new initiative to develop a Teraton-scale ultra-high energy neutrino detector in deep, radio-transparent ice near Amundsen-Scott station at the South Pole.

Magnetic buoyancy in simulated galactic discs with a realistic circum galactic medium

open access: yes, 2018
We present simulations of isolated disc galaxies in a realistic environment performed with the Tree-SPMHD-Code Gadget-3. Our simulations include a spherical circum-galactic medium (CGM) surrounding the galactic disc, motivated by observations and the ...

Deep learning method for predicting electromagnetic emission spectrum of aerospace equipment

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 18, Issue 4, Page 193-201, June 2024.
Aiming at the typical and unpredictable spike signals in the electromagnetic compatibility test spectrum, a data decomposition method is adopted to extract such signals on the basis of a certain threshold and reconstruct them into a data sequence. After data decomposition, two data sequences are formed, and a long short‐term memory network is used for ...

Compact Archimedean spiral antenna with high gain for electrostatic discharge detection

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 18, Issue 3, Page 147-154, March 2024.
A compact Archimedean spiral antenna with high gain for electrostatic discharge (ESD) detection is investigated. A frustum‐shaped cavity (FSC) proposed in this work is formed to optimise the maximum antenna gain. The verified results indicate that the proposed antenna with compact size is preferred to be utilised for ESD detection.
