Bicuspid mitral bioprosthesis. [PDF]
A bicuspid mitral bioprosthesis was prepared by mounting glutaraldehyde-processed porcine pericardium onto commercially available Brownlee-Yates stents. The bioprostheses were inserted into 17 dogs. Haemodynamic performance and long-term function of the valve was assessed.

Pathological Investigation of Congenital Bicuspid Aortic Valve Stenosis, Compared with Atherosclerotic Tricuspid Aortic Valve Stenosis and Congenital Bicuspid Aortic Valve Regurgitation [PDF]
Congenital bicuspid aortic valve (CBAV) is the main cause of aortic stenosis (AS) in young adults. However, the histopathological features of AS in patients with CBAV have not been fully investigated. We examined specimens of aortic valve leaflets ...

Bicuspid aortic valve outcomes [PDF]
AbstractBackgroundBicuspid aortic valve is the most common CHD. Its association with early valvular dysfunction, endocarditis, thoracic aorta dilatation, and aortic dissection is well established.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to assess the incidence and predictors of cardiac events in adults with bicuspid aortic valve.MethodsWe carried out a ...

Including Aortic Valve Morphology in Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations: Initial Findings and Application to Aortic Coarctation [PDF]
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations quantifying thoracic aortic flow patterns have not included disturbances from the aortic valve (AoV). 80% of patients with aortic coarctation (CoA) have a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) which may cause adverse ...

The Association between Morphological and Functional Characteristics of the Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Bicuspid Aortopathy [PDF]
To identify the association between morphological and functional characteristics of the bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) and bicuspid aortopathy and to identify the determinants of aortic dilatation using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiac computed tomography (CCT).This study included 312 subjects (mean [SD] age, 52.7 [14.3] years; 227 males ...

A novel source of arterial valve cells linked to bicuspid aortic valve without raphe in mice
Abnormalities of the arterial valve leaflets, predominantly bicuspid aortic valve, are the commonest congenital malformations. Although many studies have investigated the development of the arterial valves, it has been assumed that, as with the ...
