Bifactor structure of the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ)

Psychiatry Research, 2015
The schizotypal personality questionnaire (SPQ) is used to characterize schizotypy, a complex construct helpful for the investigation of schizophrenia-related psychopathology and putative endophenotypes. The SPQ factor structure at item level has been rarely replicated and no study had tested a bifactor model of the SPQ so far.

A Bifactor Model of School Engagement

International Journal of Behavioral Development, 2016
School engagement involves cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components that overlap conceptually. This conceptual ambiguity has led to measures that have either consisted of one general factor or separate correlated factors.

A guide to exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) and bifactor-ESEM in body image research

open access: yesBody Image, 2023
Traditionally, assessments of factor validity of body image instruments have relied on exploratory or confirmatory factor analysis. However, the emergence of exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM), a resurgence of interest in bifactor models ...

Specific and general facets of hoarding: A bifactor model

Journal of Anxiety Disorders, 2015
Whereas it has been suggested that hoarding is a multidimensional construct comprising distinct but interrelated factors (i.e., difficulty discarding, excessive clutter, and excessive acquisition), a high degree of overlap as well as a lack of discriminant validity among these factors and exogenous constructs suggests that a correlated factors approach

A Comparison of Bifactor and Second-Order Models of Quality of Life

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2006
Bifactor and second-order factor models are two alternative approaches for representing general constructs comprised of several highly related domains. Bifactor and second-order models were compared using a quality of life data set (N = 403). The bifactor model identified three, rather than the hypothesized four, domain specific factors beyond the ...

A Bifactor Model of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Phenotype

Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, 2019
I read with interest the newly published work by Kim et al. describing the covariance structure of parent-reported autism spectrum disorder (ASD) symptoms.1 The authors compared many different latent class, factor analytic, and factor mixture models in a large, clinically referred sample, concluding that the ASD phenotype is best described by three ...

Bifactor structure of clinical disability in relapsing multiple sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, 2014
Multiple sclerosis (MS) can affect virtually every neurological function which complicates the conceptualization and assessment of disability. Similar challenges are encountered in other medical fields including child cognitive development and psychiatry, for instance. In these disciplines progress in diagnosis and outcome measurement has been recently

Examination of a Bifactor Model of Obsessive-Compulsive Symptom Dimensions

Assessment, 2016
Although obsessive-compulsive (OC) symptoms are observed along four dimensions (contamination, responsibility for harm, order/symmetry, and unacceptable thoughts), the structure of the dimensions remains unclear. The current study evaluated a bifactor model of OC symptoms among those with and without obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The goals were (
