Bifurcation points of variational inequalities [PDF]

open access: yesCzechoslovak Mathematical Journal, 1982
Let K be a closed convex cone in a Hilbert space H with its vertex at the origin. Let \(A: H\to H\) be a linear (in general nonsymmetric) completely continuous operator, \(N: {\mathbb{R}}\times H\to H\) a nonlinear completely continuous operator satisfying the condition \(\lim_{\| v\| \to 0}(N(\mu,v)/\| v\|)=0\) uniformly on bounded \(\mu\)-intervals ...

Magnetism and Nonlinear Charge Transport in NiFe2O4/γ‐Al2O3/SrTiO3 Heterostructure: Toward Spintronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.

Bifurcation analysis of a normal form for excitable media: Are stable dynamical alternans on a ring possible?

open access: yes, 2008
We present a bifurcation analysis of a normal form for travelling waves in one-dimensional excitable media. The normal form which has been recently proposed on phenomenological grounds is given in form of a differential delay equation.

Scaling and crossovers in activated escape near a bifurcation point. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2003
Near a bifurcation point a system experiences a critical slowdown. This leads to scaling behavior of fluctuations. We find that a periodically driven system may display three scaling regimes and scaling crossovers near a saddle-node bifurcation where a ...

Rolling and Impacting Caustic Drops on Super Liquid‐Repellent Surfaces: In Situ Force and Energy Monitoring of Surface Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The use of continuous drop‐based force and energy probing methods is introduced to evaluate in situ chemical degradation of super liquid‐repellent surfaces by caustic liquids. By tracking the velocity of rolling drops and energy dissipation of impacting drops, degradation dynamics are resolved under high spatio‐temporal precision. Using this technique,

Investigation of Early Warning Indexes in a Three-Dimensional Chaotic System with Zero Eigenvalues

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
A rare three-dimensional chaotic system with all eigenvalues equal to zero is proposed, and its dynamical properties are investigated. The chaotic system has one equilibrium point at the origin.

Stable vortex and dipole vector solitons in a saturable nonlinear medium

open access: yes, 2002
We study both analytically and numerically the existence, uniqueness, and stability of vortex and dipole vector solitons in a saturable nonlinear medium in (2+1) dimensions.

Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

Coupled Effects of Turing and Neimark-Sacker Bifurcations on Vegetation Pattern Self-Organization in a Discrete Vegetation-Sand Model

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Wind-induced vegetation patterns were proposed a long time ago but only recently a dynamic vegetation-sand relationship has been established. In this research, we transformed the continuous vegetation-sand model into a discrete model.
