Palliative management for malignant biliary obstruction and gastric outlet obstruction from pancreatic cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery
Pancreatic cancer is among the leading causes of gastrointestinal cancer‐related death, with a dismal prognosis. Over 80% of pancreatic cancer patients present with advanced disease, making curative resection unfeasible.

P4‐ATPases as Phospholipid Flippases: From Membrane Dynamics to Human Disorders

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT P4‐ATPases (P4 subfamily of P‐type ATPases) flippase complex includes an α‐subunit responsible for catalysis and a supporting β‐subunit, which consumes energy by catalyzing the hydrolysis of ATP, thereby facilitating the translocation of aminophospholipids from the outer to the inner leaflet of cellular membranes to maintain the asymmetric ...

Incidence and Mortality Risks of Gastrointestinal Cancers During Working‐Age Period: Trends and Disparities in 204 Countries and Territories (1990–2021)

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
This comprehensive analysis of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer risk reveals that globally, one in 46 people will develop and one in 73 will die from GI cancers during working age (15–64 years), with 2021 incidence and mortality risks of 2.19% and 1.37%, respectively. Key findings demonstrate striking gender disparities, with males facing nearly double the

Effects of a Four‐Strain Probiotic on Gut Microbiota, Inflammation, and Symptoms in Parkinson's Disease: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Gut dysbiosis and gut‐brain‐axis involvement in people with Parkinson's disease (PwP) support the use of gut‐microbiota‐modulating interventions. Probiotics may help manage constipation in PwP; however, mechanisms underpinning additional beneficial properties are unknown.

Prospective assessment of probe‐based confocal laser endomicroscopy under direct cholangioscopic visualization for biliary strictures that could not be definitively diagnosed using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (with video)

open access: yesDEN Open
The definitive diagnosis of patients with indeterminate biliary strictures remains challenging. Probe‐based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) provides real‐time histological assessment of bile duct tissues. Since no previous studies have evaluated the

Dynamic relationships between bilirubin concentrations and the gut microbiota in the neonatal period: A pilot prospective cohort study

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
In the prospective cohort of term neonates, daily bilirubin monitoring combined with serial fecal 16S rRNA sequencing showed that early gut microbiota trajectories are linked to bilirubin dynamics, with distinct bacterial genera associated with higher versus lower peak bilirubin.
