We consider the problem of drawing a directed graph in two dimensions with a minimum number of crossings such that for every node the incoming edges appear consecutively in the cyclic adjacency lists. We show how to adapt the planarization method and the recently devised exact crossing minimization approach in a simple way.

When interacting with robots we show a plethora of affective reactions typical of natural communications. Indeed, emotions are embedded on our communications and represent a predominant communication channel to convey relevant, high impact, information.

Electrokinetics in extremely bimodal suspensions
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2007Prompted by the results obtained by Mantegazza et al. [Nature Physics 1 (2005) 103], where the electric birefringence of suspensions of elongated particles was strikingly affected by the presence of a sea of very small (size ratio lower than 10:1) colloidal spheres, we have undertaken an investigation of other electrokinetic phenomena in suspensions ...

Rosser Orderings in Bimodal Logics
Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1989The modalities \(\square\), \(\Delta\) are interpreted as provability in \(\Sigma_ 1\)-sound theories T, S, respectively, containing Primitive Recursive Arithmetic and such that S proves reflection for T. The witnes comparison connectives \(\prec\), \(\preccurlyeq\) are applied only to formulas beginning with modalities. The logic of (\(\square,\Delta)\

A Bimodal Distribution on the Sphere
Applied Statistics, 1982SUMMARY A distribution is proposed as a model for spherical data concentrated about two directions in roughly equal proportions. This distribution, which has convenient computational properties, includes the Fisher distribution as a special case (that in which the modal directions coincide).

A number of methods for cleaning up noisy training sets to improve generalisation have been proposed recently. Most of these methods perform well on artificially noisy data, but less well on real world data where it is difficult to distinguish between noisy data points from valid but rare data points.

Bimodality of formal ontology and mereology
International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 1995Abstract From the distinctions between "ontology" and "logic" and between "formal" and "material" we obtain two basic oppositions. Keeping the term "ontology" constant yields the opposition between "formal ontology" and "material ontology". This raises a question: when one speaks of ontology, how can its formal aspects be distinguished from its ...

SIMPLE TESTS FOR BIMODALITY AND BITANGENTIALITY
Annals of Eugenics, 1951The articles published by the Annals of Eugenics (1925–1954) have been made available online as an historical archive intended for scholarly use. The work of eugenicists was often pervaded by prejudice against racial, ethnic and disabled groups. The online publication of this material for scholarly research purposes is not an endorsement of those views
