Additional grain boundary strengthening in length-scale architectured copper with ultrafine and coarse domains [PDF]
The strength of polycrystals is known to increase with decreasing grain size, known as Hall-Petch effect. However, this relationship fails to predict the strength of samples with a non-uniform distribution of grain sizes.

Dynamics in the Sakaguchi-Kuramoto model with bimodal frequency distribution.
In this work, we study the Sakaguchi-Kuramoto model with natural frequency following a bimodal distribution. By using Ott-Antonsen ansatz, we reduce the globally coupled phase oscillators to low dimensional coupled ordinary differential equations.

A New Family of Distributions Based on Proportional Hazards
In this article, we introduce a new family of symmetric-asymmetric distributions based on skew distributions and on the family of order statistics with proportional hazards.

Impact of Zygosity on Bimodal Phenotype Distributions [PDF]
AbstractAllele number, or zygosity, is a clear determinant of gene expression in diploid cells. But the relationship between the number of copies of a gene and its expression can be hard to anticipate, especially when the gene in question is embedded in a regulatory circuit that contains feedbacks.

Resolving the age bimodality of galaxy stellar populations on kpc scales [PDF]
Galaxies in the local Universe are known to follow bimodal distributions in the global stellar populations properties. We analyze the distribution of the local average stellar-population ages of 654,053 sub-galactic regions resolved on ~1-kpc scales in a

Synthesis of Ti–Al Bimodal Powder for High Flowability Feedstock by Electrical Explosion of Wires
In this research, Ti–Al bimodal powders were produced by simultaneous electrical explosion of titanium and aluminum wires. The resulting powders were used to prepare powder–polymer feedstocks.

Regression analysis is a technique widely used in different areas of human knowledge, with distinct distributions for the error term. It is the case, however, that regression models with the error term following a bimodal distribution are not common in ...

In this paper, we propose and derive a Birnbaum–Saunders distribution to model bimodal data. This new distribution is obtained using the product of the standard Birnbaum–Saunders distribution and a polynomial function of the fourth degree.

Bimodal Island Size Distribution in Heteroepitaxial Growth [PDF]
A bimodal size distribution of two dimensional islands is inferred during interface formation in heteroepitaxial growth of Bismuth Ferrite on (001) oriented SrTiO3 by sputter deposition. Features observed by in-situ x-ray scattering are explained by a model where coalescence of islands determines the growth kinetics with negligible surface diffusion on
