Abstract Red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) is a globally important temperate forage legume. Its symbiosis with soil‐borne rhizobia enables nitrogen fixation, and its ability to produce quality forage under diverse soil conditions enhances pasture productivity, particularly during water deficits.
