Abstract Legumes can form symbiotic associations with rhizobia and fix atmospheric nitrogen (N), contributing N to forage systems when grown in mixtures with non‐N‐fixing species. Ball clover (BC; Trifolium nigrescens Viv.) is a cool‐season annual legume with strong reseeding potential due to its production of hard seed.

Abstract Agricultural subsidies can be an effective policy tool to enhance soil organic carbon sequestration. This paper assesses the effectiveness of a second‐best hypothetical policy which subsidizes additional canola hectares optimally for each soil zone in Saskatchewan in an effort to increase soil organic carbon.

SYMBIOTIC NOVA V1016 CYG AS INTERACTING BINARY
Long-term UBV photoelectric and photographic photometry of the symbiotic nova V1016 Cyg is discussed. The pre-outburst brightening in 1949, main nova-like outburst in 1964 and two small brightenings in 1980 and 1994 suggest 15.1 ± 0.2 years period of activity.
