PLAYING WITH PREFIGURATION: Ludic Spaces and Prefigurative Organizing for Children's Right to the Mobile City

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Earlier writings on the political importance of play have discussed how it can make players conscious of the possibilities of otherwise worlds. Prefigurative politics has very similar aims, but the discussion between the two has been limited.

Stable flies preferentially oviposit on sites offering conspecific eggs with egg‐derived bacterial semiochemicals

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Stable flies preferentially oviposit on sites offering conspecific eggs with egg‐derived airborne semiochemicals. Egg‐borne bacterial symbionts, and Serratia marcescens in particular, produce odorants which attract gravid female flies and elicit oviposition.

Symbiotic Mutualism? A Process Perspective on the HRM and L&D Professions

open access: yesHuman Resource Management Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Professional HR associations are pivotal, yet under‐researched, institutions that shape recognition, accreditation, legitimacy and professional boundary definition in the HR field. In this paper we argue that as HR work expands into domains such as talent management, HR analytics, coaching, and mentoring, professional boundaries are better ...

Symbiotic binaries in the Gaia data – I. Known symbiotics in DR3 and FPR

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
ABSTRACT Symbiotic stars are long-period interacting binaries composed of an evolved giant and a hot compact companion. Their complex spectra and variability make them both astrophysically valuable and observationally challenging. We investigate how known symbiotic stars are represented in Gaia DR3 and the Focused Product Release (FPR)

Fungal infection affects sexual signalling and mate choice in the sugarcane borer

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Fungus‐infected Diatraea saccharalis females exhibit enhanced attractiveness to males in wind tunnel assays. Fungal infection alters the pheromone profile of females, increasing the relative abundance of Z9‐16: Ald, a minor but behaviourally active component of the species' sex pheromone blend.

Employing intersectionality as a theoretical framework, methodological approach, and activist tool, the study analyses personal narratives to ...

What mimics the reflection effect in symbiotic binaries? [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2001
We discuss the origin of a periodic wave-like variation as a function of the orbital phase observed in the light curves (LC) of symbiotic stars. It is shown that this type of variability cannot be ascribed to a reflection eect. For example, the observed amplitudes of the LCs are far larger than those calculated within a model of the reflection eect ...
