3D Models of Symbiotic Binaries

EAS Publications Series, 2015
Symbiotic binaries consist of a cool, mass-losing giant and an accreting, compact companion. We present 3D Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) models of two such interacting binaries, RS Oph and Mira AB. RS Oph is also a recurrent nova system, thus we model multiple quiescent mass transfer-nova outburst cycles.

Circumstellar matter in the symbiotic binary EG and

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1993
We present a quantitative model of a proposed common slowly expanding envelope corotating with a symbiotic binary system. The geometry of the envelope is defined by the equipotential surface containing the Lagrangian pointL 2. The model was applied to the symbiotic binary EG And.

Masses of white dwarfs in symbiotic binaries

Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2019
AbstractMasses have been computed for the white dwarfs (WDs) in eclipsing, mass exchange (symbiotic), WD–red giant (RG) binaries by using single-lined spectroscopic orbits, orbital inclinations, and the RG masses. Inclinations have been measured for 13 eclipsing symbiotic binaries.

Related Binaries, Including Symbiotic Stars

Highlights of Astronomy, 1986
In the context of the Joint Discussion, it is clear that by “long period binaries” we understand the system of ∊ Aurigae and theζAurigae systems. The question is, then, how to determine which systems could be considered “related” to those long period ones.
