The Productivity Effect of High Involvement Management: Causal Evidence From Germany

open access: yesJournal of Economics &Management Strategy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study empirically examines the effects of High Involvement Management (HIM) on establishment productivity. To achieve this it draws on a large‐scale panel data set representative of the German economy. The identification strategy exploits the bracketing property of fixed effects and lagged dependent variable models and supplements this ...

Neural based binarization techniques

open access: yesEighth International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR'05), 2005
This paper introduces three neural based binarization techniques. These techniques start with a self organizing map (SOM) applied on the image to extract its most representative grey levels or colors. The classification goes further in two different ways.

Direct binarization a quality-and-time efficient binarization strategy

Proceedings of the 21st ACM Symposium on Document Engineering, 2021
Most of the best known binarization algorithms have grayscale conversion as a pre-processing step, before applying the binarization strategy itself. Many algorithms produce equally good or even better quality images if fed with only one component of the image, instead of its gray-scale/luminance equivalent.
