Mining for Observables: A New Challenge in Numerical Relativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
One of the motivations behind numerical relativity is to provide gravitational wave signals of compact objects to observers using the new gravitational wave detectors.

2D Nanomaterials for Solar Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This review gives comprehensively summarized latest advances on solar H2 production by various 2D nanomaterials using photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic H2 production methods, especially highlighting the photocatalytic one. After the summary, an outlook into the challenges and the future of 2D nanomaterials for solar H2 production is given.

Copper Contact for Perovskite Solar Cells: Properties, Interfaces, and Scalable Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Copper electrodes, as low‐cost, scalable contacts for perovskite solar cells, offer several advantages over precious metals such as Au and Ag, including performance, cost, deposition methods, and interfacial engineering. Copper (Cu) electrodes are increasingly considered practical, sustainable alternatives to noble‐metal contacts in perovskite solar ...

Hyper Velocity Stars and the Restricted Parabolic 3-body Problem

open access: yes, 2009
Motivated by detections of hypervelocity stars that may originate from the Galactic Center, we revist the problem of a binary disruption by a passage near a much more massive point mass.

Black Hole-Neutron Star Binaries

open access: yes
The gravitational wave signals of black hole-neutron star (BHNS) binary systems have now been detected, and future detections might be accompanied by electromagnetic counterparts. BHNS mergers involve much of the same physics as binary neutron star mergers: strong gravity, nuclear density matter, neutrino radiation, and magnetic turbulence.

Analytical Black-Hole Binary Merger Waveforms

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
We present a highly accurate, fully analytical model for the late inspiral, merger, and ringdown of black-hole binaries with arbitrary mass ratios and spin vectors, including the contributions of harmonics beyond the fundamental mode. This model assumes only that nonlinear effects remain small throughout the entire coalescence, and is developed based ...

Predicting High‐Resolution Spatial and Spectral Features in Mass Spectrometry Imaging with Machine Learning and Multimodal Data Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A multimodal fusion pipeline predicts high‐resolution ion distributions in imaging mass spectrometry by integrating Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance, time‐of‐flight matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization, and time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry data.

Binary Black Hole Coalescence

open access: yes, 2009
The two-body problem in general relativity is reviewed, focusing on the final stages of the coalescence of the black holes as uncovered by recent successes in numerical solution of the field equations.
