A Sparsity-Based Approach to 3D Binaural Sound Synthesis Using Time-Frequency Array Processing

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2010
Localization of sounds in physical space plays a very important role in multiple audio-related disciplines, such as music, telecommunications, and audiovisual productions. Binaural recording is the most commonly used method to provide an immersive sound

Atypical Change Detection in Sound Sequences: A Behavioral and Magnetoencephalography Study in Congenital Amusia

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
When passively listening to oddball sequences during magnetoencephalography recordings, individuals with congenital amusia show abnormalities of mismatch negativity for frequency deviants in the right temporal and right frontal cortices, whatever the stimulus onset asynchrony and change size.

Auditory–Motor Synchronization Ability Predicts Enhanced Neural Tracking and Mismatch Detection in Response to Music

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1559, Issue 1, May 2026.
Our study demonstrates that auditory–motor synchronization ability is associated with enhanced neural responses to musical stimuli and predicts errors in a mismatch negativity protocol. Subjects with better synchronization exhibited neural activity that more accurately predicted the musical envelope, suggesting that auditory–motor synchronization ...

Neurophysiological sensitivity to envelope and pulse timing interaural time differences in cochlear implanted rats with different hearing experiences

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 10, Page 3875-3894, 15 May 2026.
Abstract figure legend Graphical summary of our study. Rats with varying hearing experiences were bilaterally implanted with cochlear implants (CIs), and neural responses were recorded from the inferior colliculus (IC), an auditory midbrain region (left).

Creation of immersive experience for headphone listening using directional room impulse responses for BRIR synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications
This paper presents an algorithm for immersive processing of a multichannel recording for headphone listening. The material listened to with headphones should evoke impressions in the listener that are identical to those experienced when listening from a

Explainable AI Insights Into EEG Classification and Its Alignment to Neural Correlates

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 6, April 15, 2026.
We systematically generate, filter, and cluster explanations of deep learning models of EEG data to identify universal patterns of relevance, which we validate via connections to observations from neuroscience. ABSTRACT While deep learning has drastically improved the performance of electroencephalography (EEG) analysis, it remains unclear what these ...

Physiological Responses to Virtual Reality‐Based Stress Regulation and Relaxation Interventions: A Systematic Review

open access: yesStress and Health, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Physiological markers are increasingly used to monitor individuals undergoing Virtual Reality (VR) stress interventions. However, several challenges arise when employing these markers to assess the impact of VR stress interventions. This systematic review synthesises and critically discusses the literature on VR stress interventions across ...
