Identification of specificity determining residues in peptide recognition domains using an information theoretic approach applied to large-scale binding maps

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2011
Background Peptide Recognition Domains (PRDs) are commonly found in signaling proteins. They mediate protein-protein interactions by recognizing and binding short motifs in their ligands.

Self‐Adaptive Gradient Interphase Enables Durable Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a machine learning‐guided interfacial design that forms a self‐adaptive graded interphase on lithium metal anode. A B105M40 composite interlayer evolves into lithiophilic, porous, and fast‐ion‐conducting phases, enabling intimate contact, dendrite suppression, and uniform lithium deposition.

One‐Component Carbon Dot Photoinitiator Enables High‐Fidelity Digital Light Processing 3D Printing With Improved Mechanical Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Furfural carbon dots functionalized with acylphosphine oxide photosensitive groups (CD‐PO PI) demonstrate potential as one‐component photoinitiators for digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing. Compared to conventional diphenyl(2,4,6‐trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide (TPO), CD‐PO PI offers improved printing resolution, resin toughness, and biological

A Solution to the Binding Problem

open access: yesJournal of Behavioral and Brain Science, 2016
Visual information about an object is widely distributed over the cortex. The problem of how this information gets reassembled in consciousness is the “binding problem”. It is assumed in this paper that consciousness reads the distributed information as a laser reads a barcode; and that this solves the binding problem without resorting to oscillations,

Maintaining binding in working memory: Comparing the effects of intentional goals and incidental affordances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Much research on memory for binding depends on incidental measures. However, if encoding associations benefits from conscious attention, then incidental measures of binding memory might not yield a sufficient understanding of how binding is accomplished.

Hemocompatible Glycogen‐Tissue Plasminogen Activator Complexes for Enhanced Blood Clot Dissolution

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Glycogen–heparin‐cRGD nanoparticles enable targeted delivery of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) to thrombi through activated platelet recognition. The hemocompatible hybrids minimize interactions with blood and immune cells while retaining enzymatic biodegradability.
