Zwitterionic Polymer Coating Enabled Chronic Dopamine Sensing and Electrophysiology Recording in Free‐Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Application of a zwitterionic poly(sulfobetaine methacrylate) (PSB) coating to microelectrode arrays and Ag/AgCl reference electrodes effectively inhibits biofouling and structural degradation. This strategy successfully enables simultaneous, long‐term electrophysiological recording and dopamine sensing in freely behaving mice, facilitating ...

Resiliency: A Consensus Data Binning Method (Short Paper)

open access: yes, 2023
Data binning, or data classification, involves grouping quantitative data points into bins (or classes) to represent spatial patterns and show variation in choropleth maps. There are many methods for binning data (e.g., natural breaks, quantile) that may

Resolving Nanoscale Heterogeneities in Lead Halide Perovskites Through Low‐Dose Concurrent 4D‐STEM‐EDX Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mixed‐cation lead mixed‐halide perovskites suffer from structural instabilities linked to nanoscale heterogeneity. To probe this non‐destructively, a low‐dose, concurrent 4D‐STEM and EDX methodology has been developed. Examining a (FA0.83Cs0.17)Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 film revealed a complex mosaic of coexisting crystal structures. Crucially, local deficiencies

Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of

Comparison of static and adaptive binning.

open access: yes, 2015
TCSPC data obtained from a 39 year old diabetes patient is evaluated. The top row of the photon histograms displays the raw data (C, E), the middle row shows the photon histograms after static binning (F, H) and the bottom row is after adaptive binning ...

Conformal Thermoreversible Gelatin‐Based Gel for High‐Fidelity Electrophysiological Recording and Acute Peripheral Nerve Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoreversible gelatin‐based gel forms a soft, conformal bioelectronic interface on complex biological surfaces. The flowable precursor penetrates hair‐dense regions, solidifies in situ, and maintains low impedance through adaptive contact and hydration retention.

Investigation of the Microbiome of Industrial PDO Sfela Cheese and Its Artisanal Variants Using 16S rDNA Amplicon Sequencing and Shotgun Metagenomics

open access: yesFoods
Sfela is a white brined Greek cheese of protected designation of origin (PDO) produced in the Peloponnese region from ovine, caprine milk, or a mixture of the two. Despite the PDO status of Sfela, very few studies have addressed its properties, including

Ion Concentration and Voltage Imaging With Fluorescent Nanodiamonds

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate reversible switching between the fluorescent NV0 and the dark NV+ state, in sub‐30 nm FNDs via surface oxidation and hydrogenation, respectively. In an electrochemical cell, we show that the fluorescence from hydrogenated particles enables all‐optical imaging of voltages and ion concentrations at the micrometer scale.
