COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Solvent-Free One-Shot Synthesis of Thermoplastic Polyurethane Based on Bio-Poly(1,3-propylene succinate) Glycol with Temperature-Sensitive Shape Memory Behavior

open access: yes, 2020
In this work, a new family of fully biobased thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) with thermo-induced shape memory is developed. First, a series of TPUs were successfully synthesized by the one-shot solvent-free bulk polymerization of bio-poly(1,3 ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Experimental approach versus COSMO-RS assisted solvent screening for predicting the solubility of rapeseed oil

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2015
Vegetable oils take a large part in industry for food and non-food applications. However the extraction process of oil from oilseeds includes a solvent extraction step using hexane.

Eco‐Friendly Bio‐Based Solvents for the Acetylation of the Amino Group of Amino Acids

open access: yesChemistry & Biodiversity
AbstractNature‐derived products, like juices and peel extracts of fruits and vegetables, have emerged in recent years as interesting and sustainable alternatives to traditional solvents in several synthetic applications. Herein, we present a green and fast method for the N‐acetylation of amino acids, using several bio‐based solvents (vinegar, tomato ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
