Study on a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell System Fuelled by a Mixture of Bio-Ethanol and Methane

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
Bio-ethanol is considered a good candidate for hydrogen production because of its renewability, low toxicity and high hydrogen content. In this work, the reforming process of a mixture of bio-ethanol and methane integrated with a proton exchange membrane

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Prediction of tractor drawbar pull under different tillage tools using machine learning and low-cost sensors

open access: yesScientific Reports
Machine-learning models were developed to predict the drawbar pull of a 78-kW-class tractor for moldboard, chisel, and subsoiler plows. Four models were tested: random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGB), artificial neural network (ANN), and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Design load analysis for electrification of a 55-kW agricultural tractor based on workload

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study aimed to determine and analyze the design loads required for the electrification of a 55‑kW agricultural tractor through field experiments. A measurement system was installed to record data from the engine, driving axles, power take‑off (PTO),

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Multi-objective macro-geometry optimization of a compound planetary geartrain for an electric tractor powertrain using NSGA-II

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study presents a multi-objective macro-geometry optimization of a compound planetary geartrain for an electric tractor powertrain. The proposed framework simultaneously minimizes peak-to-peak static transmission error and maximizes gear mesh ...

Towards Higher Energy Conversion Efficiency by Bio-Hydrogen and Bio-Methane Co-Production: Effect of Enzyme Loading and Initial pH

open access: yesFermentation
Bio-hydrogen and bio-methane co-production was a promising way to enhance the energy conversion efficiency, and enzyme loading and pH are key factors influencing anaerobic fermentation processes. Therefore, in this study, the co-production process of bio-
