Bio-Inspired Parallel Algorithm Design

open access: yes
This paper explores the design of parallel algorithms inspired by biological neural networks. The core idea is to leverage the inherent parallelism and efficiency found in biological systems to develop more effective parallel algorithms. We propose a methodology for decomposing parallel tasks based on biological neural network structures, facilitating ...

A Low‐Cost, Handheld Optical Stiffness Sensor for Minimally Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel handheld stiffness sensor is presented for real‐time tissue stiffness characterization. By simultaneously sensing contact force and tissue deformation, the device enables accurate stiffness quantification without requiring precise manual control. This approach offers a promising solution for intraoperative tumor detection and minimally invasive

Bio‐Inspired Object Retrieval via Proximity‐Guided Adaptive Thigmotactic Exploration and Neuromorphic Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Sparse active‐infrared proximity sensing is coupled to an adaptive thigmotactic controller for camera‐inaccessible object retrieval. After grasping, receptor‐informed encoding transforms force, temperature, and wrist force–torque signals into spike trains for spiking neural network recognition.

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...
