Phosphate pollution control in waste waters using new bio-sorbents

open access: yesInternational Journal of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, 2012
Thermally activated barks/stems and their ashes of Ficus religiosa, Cassia auriculata, Punica granatum and Calotropis gigantean are found to have remarkable affinity towards phosphate ions. The sorption characteristics of these bio-products towards phosphate from synthetically prepared waste waters have been studied with respect to various ...

Nanofiber PVA‐Based Membranes Incorporating Functionalized Spanish Broom Derivatives for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) as a renewable source for electrospun composite membranes in sustainable water purification. MCC and biochar were functionalized with eco‐friendly precursors and nanomaterials (i.e., HNT, β‐CDs) to develop hybrid PVA nanofiber composites.

Sprayable Polyolefin Sorbents Enabled by Bio‐Solvents for Large‐Scale Oil and Chemical Spill Recovery

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sprayable POE‐based sorbent formulated with a green solvent blend of α‐pinene, D‐limonene, and p‐cymene enables rapid in situ film formation via solvent evaporation, allowing efficient pollutant capture. The system exhibits high oil uptake (37.3 g g−1) and effectively removes up to 60 mL of VLSFO under simulated marine spill conditions.

Development of hybrid orgаnic-inorgаnic (bio)sorbents for Pb(II) removаl [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Promising new removal of pollutants and the improvement of existing ones make up development of new sorbents with improved sorbing properties. With this aim, this research include the development of hybrid organic-inorganic and combined (bio)sorbents. The use of biomass originated materials for cleansing of wastewaters is extensively studied.
