A rotational energy harvesting device that successfully reconciles high power density with mechanical durability through a hybrid sliding‐and‐bouncing kinematic mechanism is reported. The success reported in our paper includes addressing a dilemma where enhanced electrical output comes at the cost of increased friction and wear, limiting the practical ...

Field sampling of indoor bioaerosols [PDF]
Because bioaerosols are related to adverse health effects in exposed humans and indoor environments represent a unique framework of exposure, concerns about indoor bioaerosols have risen over recent years. One of the major issues in indoor bioaerosol research is the lack of standardization in the methodology, from air sampling strategies and sample ...

Propagation of viral bioaerosols indoors
Here we look into the spread of aerosols indoors that may potentially carry viruses. Many viruses, including the novel SARS-CoV-2, are known to spread via airborne and air-dust pathways. From the literature data and our research on the propagation of fine aerosols, we simulate herein the carryover of viral aerosols in indoor air.

Bio‐derived lignin–Eosin Y macromolecular networks are developed as visible‐light‐responsive self‐sterilizing coatings that generate reactive oxygen species without leaching. The spray‐coated photopolymerized surfaces exhibit durable antibacterial and antiviral activity under ambient light for extended periods, demonstrating a scalable and sustainable ...

Bioaerosols in the Barcelona subway system [PDF]
Subway systems worldwide transport more than 100 million people daily; therefore, air quality on station platforms and inside trains is an important urban air pollution issue. We examined the microbiological composition and abundance in space and time of bioaerosols collected in the Barcelona subway system during a cold period.

Abstract The presence of Arctic clouds plays a crucial role in the evolution of the surface temperature of Arctic sea ice. However, large biases in cloud representation remain in state‐of‐the‐art weather and climate models. In this study, we use observational data from the one‐year Arctic ship campaign Multi‐disciplinary drifting Observatory for the ...

The Importance Of Bioaerosol In Forensic Investigations [PDF]
Abstract The article discusses the importance of bioaerosol in terms of forensic microbiology and explains its usefulness in forensic investigations. Examples of investigative practice and crime investigations available in the literature are also presented, with special focus on the importance of biological aerosol analyses during ...

A fungal perspective: Ecological reinterpretation of short‐term temporal variation in airborne eDNA
Abstract Airborne environmental DNA (eDNA) is a powerful tool for assessing biodiversity, but its temporal dynamics and applicability to fungi remain poorly understood. Here we discuss how short‐term airborne eDNA variation should be interpreted for fungal communities.
