Functional polymer materials containing heavy group‐14 elements focusing on germanium and tin
The synthesis, functions, and applications of the polymers containing heavy group 14 elements focusing on germanium and tin are outlined. Owing to their large atomic radii and weak binding energies, the polymers show unique properties: chromism, luminescence, carrier mobility, and reactivity to produce radials and higher coordinated states.

Efficiency of GCSC-BtA, as a new type of biocide, on different agricultural arthropod pests and its side-effect on some predators [PDF]
A new type of biocide GCSC-BtA, named from "Germany-China Scientific Cooperation-Bacillus thuringiensis-Abamectin", was successfully developed by conjugating delta-endotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis (B.t.) with Abamectin from Streptomyces avermitilis ...

ABSTRACT Biofouling on artificial surfaces in aquatic ecosystems leads to significant economic losses. Current antifouling paints, while effective, often harm the aquatic environment. This study explores ecologically safe antifouling alternatives derived from plants, focusing on the aquatic macrophytes Cabomba caroliniana (CC) and Schoenoplectus ...

The potential impact of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) on fisheries [PDF]
The commercial development of ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) operations will involve some environmental perturbations for which there is no precedent experience. The pumping of very large volumes of warm surface water and cold deep water and its

The distribution of plasmids that carry virulence and resistance genes in Staphylococcus aureus is lineage associated. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Staphylococcus aureus is major human and animal pathogen. Plasmids often carry resistance genes and virulence genes that can disseminate through S. aureus populations by horizontal gene transfer (HGT) mechanisms. Sequences of S.

ABSTRACT This study reports, for the first time, the use of the speckled cockroach Nauphoeta cinerea as a promising bioindicator for genotoxic monitoring. It was validated through control groups (both positive and negative) in addition to testing lettuce (Lactuca sativa ) samples from public street markets consumed by N. cinerea specimens in Pernambuco,

Tannin resin-boron associations: Leaching and biological resistance [PDF]
The easy leaching of boron in wood preservation formulations has allowed to use this fungicide only for short term applications. The recently discovered adduct with flavonoids allows boron to resist longer periods of time within wood and consequently ...

Causal Modeling and the Efficacy of Action [PDF]
This paper brings together Thompson's naive action explanation with interventionist modeling of causal structure to show how they work together to produce causal models that go beyond current modeling capabilities, when applied to specifically selected ...
