Biocomposite films synthesized at a fluid/fluid interface

Faraday Discussions, 2005
In the synthesis of mesostructured particles and films, the cooperative self-organization of amphiphilic molecules in the presence of reactive species is a key factor in the reaction mechanism. This paper presents a method for preparing structured collagen films synthesized at fluid/fluid interfaces. This work is an extension of previous efforts in our

Facile preparation of a strong chitosan-silk biocomposite film

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2020
Chitosan-silk biocomposite films with nanofibrous structures have been prepared by facile solution casting of chitosan and silk co-dissolved in formic acid. The morphology, structure and mechanical properties of the chitosan-silk biocomposite were characterized by SEM, FTIR, TG-DSC, and mechanical testing.

Preparation and characterization of chitosan/KSF biocomposite film

Polymer Composites, 2008
Abstract Chitosan–clay biocomposites have been prepared in which KSF‐montmorillonite (KSF) is used as filler and diluted acetic acid is used as solvent for dissolving and dispersing chitosan and montmorillonite, respectively. The effect of KSF loadings in biocomposites has been investigated.

Biocomposite cellulose-alginate films: Promising packaging materials

Food Chemistry, 2014
Biocomposite films based on cellulose and alginate were produced using unmodified birch pulp, microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and birch pulp derivate, nanofibrillated anionic dicarboxylic acid cellulose (DCC), having widths of fibres ranging from 19.0 μm to 25 nm as cellulose fibre materials.

Biocomposite PBAT/lignin blown films with enhanced photo-stability

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2022
Lignin can be obtained as a byproduct during cellulose-rich pulp fibers production and it is habitually treated as waste or intended for low-value destinations. However, due to UV absorption and mechanical properties, lignin can contribute to the fabrication of biodegradable blown films with superior performances.

Biocomposite films based on alginate and organically modified clay

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2012
Sodium alginate/sodium montmorillonite hybrid films were prepared by casting from the suspension of sodium alginate and different clay samples. Clay samples had been modified with a cationic surfactant, a cationic polymer, and a small polar molecule, respectively. Benzethonium chloride, polyethyleneimine and urea were used as clay modifiers.

Tensile Properties and Morphology of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Regenerated Cellulose Biocomposite Films [PDF]

open access: yesProcedia Chemistry, 2016
The regenerated cellulose (RC)biocomposite films were prepared using casting method where oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) were dissolved in N-dimethylacetamide/lithium chloride (DMAc/LiCl)solution.

Biocomposite of a multilayer film scrap and curauá fibers

Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials, 2016
An important material for making composites is the scrap of multilayer films. Using plant fibers in these composites can further contribute to reduce their environmental impact. We prepared, by extrusion and injection molding, composites of this scrap reinforced with 20 wt% of curauá fibers.

Characterization of Cellulose/Calcium Carbonate Biocomposite Film

Key Engineering Materials, 2016
In this study were to explore the properties of interaction between cellulose and calcium carbonate particle (CaCO3) which derive from Papia Undulates Shell in procedure of biocomposite synthesis. The structural properties of cellulose powder Papia Undulates Shell and cellulose-calcium carbonate composite film were investigated by using X-ray ...
